cavity wall insulation
If your walls aren't insulated you will lose more heat through them than any other part of your home. Cavity wall insulation will help you save energy, money and the environment, keeping your house warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

what is cavity wall insulation?
Insulating materials are injected into the cavity of the external walls of your house and by combining with the still captive air, this insulation acts as a barrier to heat loss. We use high quality insulating materials from non combustible glass mineral wool, derived from silica (or sand), the world's most natural resource.

Before installation is carried out a survey is conducted to record all features of the property and to ascertain the suitability for insulation. The cavity wall installation survey consists of 5 main points:
  1. The type of cavity construction
  2. The width of the cavity
  3. The area of the wall to be filled
  4. The condition of the structure
  5. The services through the cavity which would be affected by cavity fill, eg ventilation, gas flues, etc.

An accurate assessment of a property can only be completed by surveying the crucial points affecting cavity wall insulation. Therefore we always ensure that:

  • Cavity barriers will be fitted where required
  • There is a cavity and it is free of debris
  • All waste down pipes are in good working order
  • The airbricks are sleeved
  • The damp proof course is not defective
  • There are no areas of solid wall
  • The cavity heads are sealed
  • There is adequate roof ventilation
  • There is no interior damp
  • There is no condensation damp
  • All meter boxes are sealed
insulation
grants are available
There are many grants and offers available for cavity wall insulation as part of a government initiative to invest in energy efficiency, and they are not just restricted to the elderly, or those on a low income or benefits.
